JANUARY 2025

So, I’m writing this 10:15pm on the final night of us having a functional democracy. Despite how drunk I am, I’m fully aware how hyperbolic that sounds. Maybe in 4 years time we can look back on rhetoric like this and hopefully laugh at how extreme our expectations were. Or maybe it’ll be 4 years and most of the things, if not all the things that we feared would come to pass did in fact come or were somehow worse than we imagined.

I don’t know, all I know is that I’ve consumed 2 bottles of ale in order to quell the restless fury I have towards my countrymen. I hate the world rn, I hate my fellow Americans for voting for the obvious Nazi’s and even more mad at the ones who are trying to ignore or rationalize how the obvious nazi’s aren’t actually nazi’s-

I know these are supposed to be updates describing the progress of my projects so why am I ranting about politics? Well, the progress of any artist is based ion their mental space, and the dumpster fire that is america has had me really fucked up most of January, amplified as Inauguration day drew closer like the moon from Majora’s Mask slowly descending upon Clock Town bringing an unfathomable and unavoidable amount of destruction in it’s wake.

So, progress has been slow, hampered even further by the fact that my daughter doesn’t go back to daycare until tomorrow, and even then the weather may delay that by another 2 days as Upstate New York experiences one of the worst and coldest winters in recent history.

There’s so much I want to get started on, and not having the time to do any of it, or even try to figure out what to start on cuz I have no reprieve and my mental state is a doll’s hair supporting a wrecking ball.

There was one thing I was able to get done, my website. The new Elonyx website is finally live, if incomplete. There’s a lot I still need to do to doll it up and make it true to my vision, but SquareSpace as a platform is a bitch to work with compared to Wix. It doesn’t offer nearly as much flexibility, which means that I’m once again going to try and find a new host after my 3 year subscription is up.

But for now, I’m at least comfortable knowing that I finally have a place on the web to archive all my stuff in one place that won’t get drowned out by social media. With the launch of the website I can also finally unveil the gamebook project I’ve been holding back since November: A Zelda gamebook.

Really excited to finally unveil this as it is a complete evolution of the Metroid RPG in terms of player choice and scale. Although I now worry if I made it too big and complex, that's what the open play-test is going to be for. The open Beta will be open from now until March, during that time I’ll be working on a different gamebook project with a different set of mechanics in order to gather data on the play-style of the zelda rpg. Once I’ve gathered enough data I’ll start work on completing the rest of the Zelda RPG. I also hope to get some video projects done in the interim as well.

I’ve fallen headfirst into an addiction to plastic as I’ve been feverishly collecting 30 Minute Mission & 30 Minute Fantasy kits. I really wanna try out some stop motion projects so I have an excuse to play with my new plastic dolls. As well as continue my efforts to deliver political education through tiktoks not that it is un-banned for another 3 months. However I will be experimenting by uploading my backlog to other social media platforms in case tiktok gets banned again or becomes absorbed by the Trump Regime.

It is now 10:35, my 2nd bottle of ale is empty, I sleep now and hopefully February is going to be better.
